Have you been feeling unorganized and not able to focus on projects that are way overdue? I was, but I began to regain my focus just by doing 1 simple thing and I’m sure it can work for you too 🙂
All I did was make my bed. Simple, right? Then that led to cleaning my bedroom, then the dishes, etc…
See, my home was in a bit of a mess and I was letting that distracting me from doing some important things that needed to get done. I felt like I was being pulled in multiple directions and it was becoming overwhelming so I just kind of shut down and did nothing instead.
I had to go to the gym, I had to buy groceries, I had to make phone calls, I had to prepare for work, I had to get ready to move into a new apartment, and so on. I didn’t know where to start. So I made a decision and started with cleaning and organizing the space around me, my home. (Cleaning your home can be a very meditative experience and an easy way to bring your awareness to the present moment.)
Something as simple as organizing my space really helped to bring some relief and allow me to start focusing on more important things. After I was done it felt like, “okay NOW I can go and finish all of the other things I was putting off.” I felt like I had more energy and finally got the ball rolling so I just let the momentum carry me on to the next task.
Now, what if you have a list of things to do and don’t know where to start, but your home is already tidy? Then maybe take an easy project you can do from home or close to your home and complete that first and see if that helps change the momentum of things.
